Reverse Discourse | LINOTIP Independent Choreographic Centre

Reverse discourse is what the title suggests. Reverse discourse. Depersonalized. Stripped. Fragile. Intimate. A performance about body politics in which the choreographer Ioana Marchidan short-circuits the collective body memory, identifying and bringing to the surface deeply rooted gestures, in order to unravel and decompose them through an abstract choreography. This cataloguing and re-editing of the memory of submission, of the suppression and repression of gestures' meanings, integrates the audience as participants in the dialogue, as submissive observers. 
It is interesting to follow in this micro performance the bodily movement, before the gestures take over, that intervene in the body with the change of perspective. The inventory of gestures comes as an oscillation between submission and oppression until the body gives up differentiating between the two and gets caught in the energy of the change between them.
